Dr. Sanyal brings in deep domain expertise in Financial Risk management, Data Analytics and Digital Lending. He has served ICICI Bank in various capacities for nearly two decades; his last role being Head- Retail & Operational Risk and Credit Monitoring. He has been responsible for managing the risk of retail and rural lending portfolio of the bank since Global Financial Crisis. He is currently an Advisor to the bank.
Apart from retail, he was responsible for a very large part of the Risk Management function at ICICI Bank which included implementation of ERM and Expected Credit Loss computation. He had been heading Analytics within the Business Intelligent Unit of the bank before moving to Risk Management.
Prior to joining ICICI he was a consultant with i-flex solutions (now Oracle Financial Services) for various markets globally in the area of Risk Management & Analytics. He has been on the board of CIBIL and has also been a member of the Financial Services Working Group of the BRICS Business council. Dr.Sanyal is a regular speaker at CAFRAL (RBI subsidiary) and at NIBM. Over the last decade, he has taken numerous sessions for executives of banks and NBFCs including C-suite executives and Board members.
Dr.Sanyal holds an M.Sc from University of Calcutta and Ph.D from Jadavpur University. He has also published in national and international journals in the area of Finance, with particular focus on Risk Management.
